Rainbow Drive-In 60th Anniversary Video

In celebration of Rainbow Drive-In’s 60th Anniversary, our team created this brand video to tell the story of the restaurant’s humble origins and honor their impact on Hawaii’s flavor identity. Since 1961, this family-owned plate lunch spot has been serving local comforts like chicken katsu, hamburger steak, and teriyaki beef over steaming scoops of rice and cold macaroni salad.

In this video, we interview the Iwamura family and some special local icons to hear how the neighborhood has evolved but the good food and philosophies have remained the same. Today, their original Kapahulu location attracts hundreds of curious tourists from all over the world, but to locals, Rainbow Drive-In will always be a down-home place of nostalgia.
