In this series of videos created for OluKai, we share the comforts and food origins behind a few special kama’aina tastemakers. Following the footsteps of TK Yamada, Indy Cook, Neale Asato, and Cassie Louie, we bear witness to their unique journeys while illuminating the unifying themes of comfort, groundedness, and nourishment—all shared values of Hawaii cuisine and OluKai footwear. Our team captured the intimate spaces and authentic voices of each contributor to bring the audience into their personal perspectives, allowing their memories and sentiments to glow, resonate, and captivate.

Indy

We created this short promotional video for OluKai’s Nourish campaign series, a collection of stories that highlight the concepts of comfort, roots, and nourishment shared between Hawaii’s cuisine and OluKai footwear. In this segment, we walk alongside Indigo Mathewson (@indycook), a private chef and forager, as she gathers fresh ingredients from the wilderness and prepares them in her kitchen. Our team’s goal was to illuminate Mathewson’s story of respect for the land as our provider while featuring the comfort and versatility of OluKai’s Ki‘ihele ‘Ili footwear, a sustainably-made modern leather slip-on.

Cassie

There’s nothing more comforting than grandma’s cooking, but OluKai’s Pehuea Lī mesh slip-on comes close. In this short promo created for OluKai’s Nourish campaign series, our team was invited into the kitchen by Cassie Louie and her Popo to share a home-cooked meal. Much like grandma’s cooking, OluKai ensures that every shoe is created with aloha to hug your feet for all-day cozy comfort, no matter how far you are from home.

Asato

Traditions evolve, but the values remain the same. We created this short promotional video for OluKai’s Nourish campaign series, a collection of stories that highlight the concepts of comfort, roots, and nourishment shared between Hawaii’s cuisine and OluKai footwear. In this segment, we follow the footsteps of Neale Asato, owner of the Asato Family Shop, as he shares the sentiments behind his local Guri Guri business. Each scoop of local Hawaii-inspired sherbert is a creamy blend of multicultural flavors that embodies the spirit of Hawaii’s community, ohana, and nostalgia.

Each video invites the audience to walk a mile in someone else’s slippahs. This time, we follow the footsteps of TK Yamada, owner of Try Coffee, as he discusses his love and passion for a good, fresh brew. A quality cup of coffee captures the essence of the earth, water, bean, and barista. Like OluKai footwear, every aspect matters deep down to the source of materials.
